Big home games await Jets in 2010
By Bud L. Ellis
The New York Jets grabbed everybody’s attention last season, surging to the AFC championship game and falling just one victory short of an improbable trip to the Super Bowl.
But if the Jets are going to return to the January spotlight this season, they will have to weave their way through a daunting home schedule.
The National Football League has released its list of home games and road games for the upcoming season. Dates and times have not been finalized.
The Jets face playoff teams in five of their eight home games. AFC East champion New England, AFC wild-card team Baltimore, AFC North champ Cincinnati, NFC runner-up Minnesota and NFC wild-card qualifier Green Bay all play the Jets at home this season. The other three home games are against Houston, Buffalo and Miami.
On the road, it’s easier as the Jets meet just one playoff team, the Patriots. The rest of the road schedule includes trips to Buffalo, Miami, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Denver and Chicago.
The Jets’ schedule ranks tied for 16th in the NFL with Buffalo, Miami and Oakland, based on opponents’ winning percentage.
